Setup & Compatibility
Before you start, make sure your devices meet the requirements:
Playground must run PlayOS 1.11 or later
Older versions won’t be discoverable for the app. The app searches for 30 seconds, then prompts you to update your Playground, if needed.

Mobile device requirements
iOS 18 or later
Android 12 or later
Older OS versions aren’t supported.
The app works on mobile phones, tablets, iPads.
No account, no sign-in, no internet needed. Once installed, the app connects directly via Bluetooth.
Your Playground must be on Active Standby mode. You can double check this in the Settings > System > Energy Usage menu.

How connection works
Only one mobile app can control a Playground at a time.
Works alongside physical remotes: if it's more convenient, feel free to just use your phone!
If Playground isn’t found within 30 seconds, the search times out. Please try again.
Works best in the same room with line-of-sight.
Range is intentionally limited to 5 meters to avoid connecting to the wrong console nearby.
Performance expectations
Performance depends heavily on your mobile device:
How long it takes to connect depends on your phone/tablet and environment.
It usually takes 30 seconds for the phone to pair to and start working as your Playground remote.
During use
A Pressing either the back or home button will wake up your Playground.
Older phones or tablets may show:
Higher latency
Connection failures
Increased battery drain
App behavior
Your phone may close the app after a few minutes. If that happens, please connect again.
Quitting the app will disconnect immediately.
Phone screen stays awake while on the Remote tab - no need to keep the screen alive manually during play.
