Nex Playground itself does not have a battery, but the included remote does. There are currently two versions of the remote: 

This remote design uses a rechargeable battery (recharges via USB-C port). We recommend charging it with the USB-C power supply cord that comes with Nex Playground.

This remote design uses 2 replaceable AAA batteries (included with purchase).
