Using Your TV Remote (HDMI-CEC)
There is a feature called "HDMI-CEC" on most modern TVs, that allow you to use one remote to control multiple devices (TV, soundbars, streaming devices, gaming console ...).
Not every TV has enabled this feature by default, but if you enable it, you can actually use your own TV's remote to control Nex Playground.
Try go into the SETTINGS MENU of your TV and look for "HDMI-CEC" (or something similar). If you can't find it, try Google "enable HDMI-CEC {your TV brand and model name}" to get specific steps.
Connecting A Third-Party Universal Remote
We've found that some universal remotes can navigate Playground. A lot of customers have found success with this one. Feel free to try it out: https://nex.fun/third-party-rcu.
To connect with the third party remote, please watch this video or follow these steps:
Disconnect the HDMI cable between the TV and Playground, and unplug both devices from power.
Wait 20 seconds.
Reconnect HDMI first — plug the HDMI cable back in between the TV and Playground BEFORE restoring power.
Plug in and power on the TV and Playground.
On your TV, enable CEC (Settings → System → Control other devices/CEC; wording may vary by TV model).
Use your original TV remote to switch to the Playground’s HDMI input.
Insert batteries into your third-party remote(if needed)
With the Playground screen on, point the third-party remote at Playground and press any button.
Look for a blue flash on the remote and a “new remote connected” popup on the Playground screen.
You're all set. Next time when waking Playground, plug it back into power or switch to its HDMI input using the TV remote before using the third-party remote.
For Roku TVs:
You’ll need to “Enable CEC Remote Control” on the menu called TV Secret Screen. To get to this menu, go to the home screen, then quickly on the remote press: Home 5 times, rewind, down, fast forward, down, rewind.
Note: When successful, the text will change to “Disable CEC Remote Control.”
